Making Business Come to YOU!

Whether you are in business, belong to a service organization, or are holding a church social or neighborhood picnic, you NEED publicity! We ALL need the media because we have important messages that MUST be shared with our community, and we can't buy enough advertising.

I've often written that no one can afford to 'advertise their way to success'. Advertising is too expensive. But failing to get your message out in a timely, positive and effective way is even MORE expensive! If you don't get your message out, you (and your project) will fail. It's as simple as that.

Did you know that almost all the 'news' in your local paper is planted? Not in a malicious or negative way, but it's the result of well-written, well-timed, and well-placed news releases. Someone calls a reporter about a new restaurant, and the restaurant gets a review, a feature article, or a nice announcement. How many other restaurants open and get NO coverage at all? The difference is knowing WHAT to do and HOW to do it.

Imagine the power of a nice article about your business, with a couple of pictures, several quotes and a positive 'feel' in your Sunday paper!

Reporters are not driving around looking for stories about your business, your Rotary fund raiser or your church festival. Newspaper, television or radio stations NEED you to contact them so they can get local news on the air. The trick is giving them what they need, in the right form, at the right time.

There are many books and consultants who can help you with press releases and the media. One of the best is Raleigh Pinskey, who has been working with businesses, entertainers and non-profits for over 30 years.
